The marine range of Atlantic sturgeon extends from the Hamilton Inlet, Labrador, Canada, to Cape Canaveral, Florida. It grows slowly, eventually reaching 5 to 6 feet in length. It measured 14 feet long and weighed 811 pounds. Once hatched, juveniles stay in their natal river for as long as six years before moving into open waters and eventually the ocean. The Atlantic Sturgeon, St. Lawrence populations, is mainly found east of Trois-Rivières, into the Estuary and past the Gulf of St. Lawrence, into the Atlantic up until Ungava Bay in the north, and along the northeastern coast of Newfoundland in the south.
